Galaxy S (i9000) display problems

hello,

So I took the plunge and got a i9000 from CPW (which means I'm now stuck with it for 24months!).

I'm only one day in but have noticed a massive (IMO) problem.
When I go online to a website - say even the Samsung Galaxy S site and page - I have a severe banding occuring where a smooth gradient should be.

Do I have a duff phone?

I think its pretty shocking given that the phone is primarily being sold on the sheer 'brilliance' of the screen quality.
Given that I'm getting a screen effect that looks worse then a 320px resolution screen.

I will try and snap this tonight and upload.
I bought the phone as i wanted as close to PC internet as possible on a mobile device - i'm getting nothing like that!

When I zoom in it doesnt make a difference.
Just gets worse ( i though it might be like when you look at a large image at say 33% and the screen just can't display the detail properly).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
